High Performance Home Tour - Project Entry 9

Large-Format European Fenestration with Awilux Maxlight Windows & UltraGlide Door Systems
Holzraum and Newphire Building Corp. came to this 6,167 sq ft project with a clear goal: build a home that performs as well as it looks. Targeting Phius Zero certification, the design demanded fenestration capable of supporting a high-performance envelope while enabling expansive glazing that defines the home's architectural character — a challenge that Eurostar's European window and door systems were purpose-built to meet.
High-Performance Fenestration Strategy
At the core of the design is a commitment to large-format glazing without compromising thermal performance. The project features Awilux Modern Maxlight window systems, including oversized units reaching up to 12 ft x 6 ft—an ambitious scale in the U.S. residential market where structural limitations often restrict window sizing.
Through specialized coordination and European fabrication capabilities, Eurostar Fenestration delivers these large-scale window systems while maintaining strict performance standards, including thermal efficiency, airtight installation, and structural integrity.
Triple-Glazed Windows & Lift-and-Slide Doors
The Awilux Maxlight systems utilize triple-pane glazing and thermally broken frames to reduce heat loss and enhance year-round comfort. These high-performance windows are designed to maximize daylight penetration while supporting the home’s low-energy design strategy.
Complementing the fixed glazing, UltraGlide lift-and-slide door systems provide seamless indoor-outdoor transitions. Engineered for smooth operation and airtight closure, these systems maintain performance while enabling large, operable glass openings that enhance spatial flow and natural light.
Precision Hardware & Material Performance
All fenestration systems are fitted with Manital Techna hardware, selected for its durability, refined detailing, and compatibility with high-performance European window and door systems. This ensures long-term reliability while maintaining a clean, modern architectural aesthetic.
Fenestration Supporting Energy Efficiency
The window and door package plays a critical role in the home’s overall energy strategy. High-performance glazing, airtight installation methods, and thermally optimized frames work together to reduce energy loss and support a tightly controlled building envelope.
Combined with passive design principles and a high-efficiency mechanical strategy, the fenestration system helps maintain stable indoor temperatures, improved comfort, and reduced operational energy demand throughout the year.
Large-Scale Glazing Capability in the U.S. Market
Featured as part of the High-Performance Home Tour, Entry #9 demonstrates how advanced European fenestration systems enable large-format architectural glazing that is often difficult to achieve in conventional U.S. residential construction.
Through coordinated engineering, sourcing, and installation expertise, Eurostar Fenestration delivers oversized window and door systems that meet both design intent and performance requirements—bridging the gap between architectural ambition and high-performance building science.
